FootWorks Studio of Dance
A note from Miss Donna
I started teaching dance to share my love and passion of dance with my students and always wanted to teach since the age of nine and I love it. I enjoy knowing the student and seeing their progress throughout the years of development. Sadly the small personal studios are fewer these days. It is good for a student to study under others but they need a strong home base too. Miss Stephanie, my daughter and I along with Miss Kayla teach all the classes here at our studio. We bring in guest teachers on occasion to offer a variety of styles in training and choreography. We believe in quality based training versus quantity. Its not about being bigger or having the most teachers or the biggest show, it is about the student, their journey where they are nurtured and guided in reaching their full potential.
Our training, performance and teaching experience is extensive. I grew up in a ballet studio with a strong emphasis for correct technique and also trained in contemporary, modern and jazz. I also studied gymnastics and tap. Miss Stephanie is trained in all genres with a strong emphasis on gymnastics, jazz, dance team and hip hop and many years on the competition circuit. Miss Kayla has an extensive ballet, contemporary and competition background.
Our selected guest teachers come with much experience both in training and performance too. Our student teachers are well trained but only assist with a teacher. They do not teach our classes solo. All of us continue with training and most with performing throughout the year to bring the best dance education to your child.
Thank You,
Miss Donna
We offer our dance training in several capacities
Recreational or Combination classes:
We are one of the few studios that still offer the option of taking combination classes where you can study 2 to 3 disciplines of dance in one class. Our students of all ages take combo classes (ballet/gymnastics/Tap) or (ballet/gymnastics/creative movement) ( Jazz/Lyrical ) or ( Jazz/Tap ). These class range in length, 45 minutes for the youngest student to an hour and a half for older student.
Progressive study:
Students ages 6 and up have the option to take 2 or more classes a week in one or several types of dance. This is for the student who really enjoys dance and a recreational class once a week is not enough. Dance training is progressive and the more classes a student takes the better dancer they will become. Progressive students do not have to join the comp team or study pointe. But pointe and comp students must study at a progressive level. Ballet and Competition programs are also educated in fitness and nutrition.
Pre Professional:
In this program students will study more intensively taking many classes a week inlcuding at least 3 in Ballet. The students in this program must take their dancing on the competitive circuit as well as expose themselves to other professionals in dance workshops, intensives and master classes. Stretch and strength training will be incorporated, variation classes and pas de deux for optimal training. Students who wish to persue a career in dance or attend a performing arts school or college will undergo training in the audition and scholarship process as well as portfolio guidelines
